Castle Team and Facilities Manager

£20,000.00 per annum - opportunity for overtime, full time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week worked on a shift rota basis.
As Castle Team and Facilities Manager you will be responsible for leading a small but charismatic front-of-house team at Newcastle Castle in delivering a top-notch customer experience. You will work closely with and support the Development Manager to ensure that Newcastle Castle remains one of the North East’s premier, independent visitor attractions and maintains its position as part of the lifeblood of the city and the region.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven professional to work in a fast paced, quirky, novel and fun environment. No two days are the same and we pride ourselves on that. We are open 7 days per week. This position works on a shift-rota basis 5 days in 7 therefore, in order to provide 7 day per week front-of-house managerial/supervisory cover you will work 1 weekend in every 2, alternating with the Castle Team Supervisor. You may need to work some bank holidays dependent upon the rota. Some evening work will be required which may be paid as overtime if you exceed your 37.5 hours per week.

This is a fulltime, permanent position with the opportunity for some paid overtime. Overtime for venue hires, events etc will be allocated fairly amongst all staff.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting the general development of the business as required by the Development Manager and the adopted strategic plan

• Working with the Development Manager in supporting and developing staff

• Having input into annual budget development, policies and procedures as well working within specified budgets

• Deputising on an occasional basis for the Development Manager

• Managing all front-of-house (FOH) staff and supervising office staff in the absence of the Development Manager to ensure efficient and safe site operations • Ensuring FOH staff are adequately trained to complete their daily duties, ad-hoc jobs and ensure site operations safety, security and cleanliness

• Developing and managing monthly rotas to cover 7 days per week operations and out-ofhours venue hires.

• Managing all cash handling operations and ensuring that all events, hires etc. are set up and ready for clients

• Being responsible for buildings/site maintenance in compliance with relevant legislation and in conjunction with the landlord

• Liaising with and co-ordinating site access for contractors • Acquiring, recording, collating and filing accurately all required service, maintenance and test records to ensure compliance with relevant legislation

• Managing and leading the Castle Team Supervisor 

Position reports to:
• the Development Manager.
Manages: All front-of-house staff and Castle Team Supervisor
