COVID-19 Updates

IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE (19th March 2020)

During these exceptional times, the health and safety of our visitors and staff is our number one priority. We have therefore closed our doors temporarily until 1st May. This will be under review in April. Please check our website for updates.

COVID-19 EVENTS UPDATE (19th March 2020)

“Due to the escalating Coronavirus situation we have taken the decision to postpone all events up until 1st May. As we are sure you will agree the safety of our customers and staff should always come first. New dates will be announced when we are satisfied that we can get back to business as usual. In the meantime, we appreciate you have spent some of your hard-earned cash on tickets for these events. As such we have three options for you to consider:

  1. We are operated by a registered charity (The Heart of the City Partnership #1165434) and like many other organisations any donations at this time would be extremely helpful. We realise though that for many people, personal finances may also become an issue.  If you are in a position to do so, you could leave the cost of your ticket as a donation. All we would need from you is an email telling us to do that.
  2. We can issue a credit note for the value of the ticket for use against any of our future events.
  3. Or we can offer a full refund.

Please contact with your order reference to let us know which of the three options suits you best.

Check our social media and websites for updates and stay safe. Regards, Ben Smith, CEO”

IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE (14th March 2020)

Newcastle Castle, operated by a registered charity, has stood as a bastion through many centuries, withstanding siege and storm. As such we remain open to the public from 10am to 5pm and will continue to do so unless instructed otherwise by government. Our evening cultural events programme continues to run and is in high demand. Our schools programme is fully attended for weeks to come. Our visitor’s health and safety is of the highest priority to us. We know that people are concerned about coming into public spaces and would like to take this opportunity to let you know that we have expanded our cleaning schedules to ensure all touchpoints within the company are sanitised frequently. We also provide facilities for hand-washing. If any member of our team shows signs of a new, persistent cough or high temperature they will be asked to go home, to self-isolate and seek advice from NHS 111. Staff have been briefed on the current situation and have received guidance on personal hygiene. They also have easy access to the latest government advice.

Due to recent developments regarding the Coronavirus, we advise that all visitors follow the advice given by the UK Government and World Health Organisation before visiting the Castle, whether during regular opening hours or for an event.

Whilst we welcome every visitor with open arms, if you have a new, persistent cough or fever or have flu-like symptoms in general please consider carefully whether postponing your visit to Newcastle Castle would be appropriate.

When you arrive to buy your tickets, our staff will direct you to our handwash station.
