Newcastle Array

The Newcastle Array is Newcastle Castle’s very own historical re-enactment group. Dedicated to bringing medieval Newcastle to life, the members of the Newcastle Array portray the ordinary people of 14th century Newcastle, researching and recreating their crafts, clothing and lives in detail and engaging with members of the public at a range of events.

They also re-enact medieval combat, portraying the Town Militia of medieval Newcastle and training with swords, spears, bows and bills.

Experienced members are on hand to help new members get together their basic kit to get started, and we’re a friendly bunch who like meeting up in the modern world as well! If you’re interested in history and want to get as close as you can to experiencing it first-hand (minus the plague) then send an email to learning@newcastlecastle.co.uk addressed to David, and we’ll have you back in the Middle Ages before you know it!
