The Once and Future King

This month, Hollywood director Guy Ritchie’s new film, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, is released, which reimagines the Once and Future King as a cockney wide boy. There have been many interpretations of the Arthurian legend – from art and literature during the Middle Ages, all the way to film, television and comics.

The Castle’s Learning Officer David Silk will present this illustrated talk, seeking to get right back to the heart of the original stories. Hear the tale of a scholarly monk with a very flexible definition of the words ‘history’ and ‘truth’, and learn about how King Arthur has been reimagined and reinvented throughout the ages.

This talk takes place in the Black Gate, which is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
