Roles

Learning Assistant:

Our learning team help us to deliver a high quality range of educational tours and workshops to visiting school groups. As a learning assistant you will be responsible for guiding groups of school children around the Castle and supporting their learning while they’re here. If you don’t have any prior experience, don’t worry! Our experienced team are happy to support you while you build your knowledge, skills and confidence.

Event Support:

Newcastle Castle hosts a wide range of vibrant and exciting events including film nights, concerts, light painting, re-enactments, poetry readings, lectures and loads more. Our event support team assist at every stage, from planning and preparation, setting up the rooms, checking tickets, assisting visitors, and take down at the end. All you need is the ability to work in a team and muck in! As an added advantage you’ll get to participate in some amazingly atmospheric and exclusive events.

Front of House:

Newcastle Castle’s front of house volunteers help to make all our guests and visitors feel welcome, greeting them at the entrance, guiding them around the site and answering any queries they might have.  All you need is an enthusiastic attitude and a commitment to making everyone’s visit the best it can be.

Researcher:

Our researchers work in their own time, either from home or in our office, researching aspects of Newcastle’s history or the history of the Castle itself to add to our knowledge base and contribute to future exhibitions, events and interpretation. Put in as much time as you like, but if you’ve got any useful information about the history of the town or anything that relates to it, we want to hear from you!
