Venue Hire

Read on to hire the Castle for your own unique occasion…

Newcastle Castle is one of the north east’s most iconic, important and historic buildings. Steeped in history this imposing Norman fortress is a rugged reminder of northern England’s turbulent history. This was no baron’s stately home. Newcastle Castle is a grim remainder of royal authority where armies gathered and criminals were imprisoned and executed. This is where the story of Newcastle began. Newcastle Castle offers intimate, novel and unique spaces that can be used for all sorts of corporate, quirky and novel events.

In the Castle Keep (the original 12th century ‘great tower’)

Located on the second floor of the Castle Keep, the Great Hall is the largest and most atmospheric of the venue’s spaces. Capable of hosting up to 100 guests, and with a large vaulted ceiling and galleries, the room offers amazing acoustics and has been used, amongst other things, for corporate events, wedding receptions, fine dining, drinks receptions, and theatre productions. This list is by no means definitive and we work with you to make your event a reality. The Keep’s ground-floor Garrison Room, formerly the county gaol, is completely accessible thanks to a newly added ramp, handrails and wooden flooring. This medium-sized chamber is perfect for drinks receptions. This, together with the chapel and other side-rooms can be used as break-out spaces to your main function.

The Castle’s roof has stunning and panoramic views over Newcastle and the River Tyne, making it perfect for drinks receptions.

Facilities and Accessibility in the Castle Keep:

•           Please note that this is a Scheduled Monument. As such there are no toilet facilities in the Castle Keep.
