The Late Shows 2025

The event is part of The Late Shows - a FREE culture crawl around Newcastle on 16th & 17th May 2025. The Blackbird Tavern will take place in the Gaol in the Castle Keep. Entry to the venue will be at the Castle Keep's street level entrance. Doors from 6pm. Please note that the building is a Grade I listed historic building, and contains low doorways and uneven surfaces. Last entry 10pm.

Soak up the ambiance of a real tavern for the night as The Blackbird Tavern will open its doors once again for The Late Shows!

Step inside the ancient castle and experience music and revelry unlike anything else in Newcastle. The lower floor of the Keep will be transformed into a medieval pub - complete with bar, medieval musicians, storytellers and eccentric characters.

Entry will entitle you to all your entertainment throughout the evening amidst the atmosphere of an authentically themed medieval tavern. Alcohol can be purchased.

The Blackbird Tavern event will be taking place on the 17th of May.

Opening time is 6pm and the event will end at 10.30pm.

Please note that our last entry time will be at 10pm.

Our event is 18+.

We operate a strict over 18s policy and Challenge 25 will be in operation, so please bring photo ID with you!

You do not need to book any tickets. This evening event at Newcastle Castle is completely free as part of the Late Shows 2025 programme.
